The rear garden area behind the Village Hall has been transformed and is now ready for a new Community Shed.
Thanks to a grant from the Kippen Community Trust and an incredibly generous contribution from McLaughlin & Harvey Construction Ltd., the previously neglected space has been levelled and resurfaced with paving and gravel. The shed will soon provide valuable storage for equipment used by village groups and events. More updates to follow as the project progresses.
The rear space behind the Village Hall has been somewhat neglected for several years and had become untidy and difficult to maintain. The current Village Hall committee decided it was time to make better use of this area by creating a properly surfaced space that could house a Community Shed for the benefit of local groups.
The shed will provide secure storage for equipment used by village organisations, helping to support community events such as the Flower Show and other activities that rely on shared resources.
To make the project possible, the Flower Show committee partnered with the Village Hall to apply for funding from the Kippen Community Trust. We were delighted to receive a grant of just under £1,000 towards the purchase of the shed, on the condition that the Village Hall could provide a suitable hard standing and space to house it.
At that point, McLaughlin & Harvey Construction Ltd. stepped in with an incredibly generous offer of support. What began as a possible application to their community fund quickly turned into something even more remarkable. Once they heard about the project, the company offered to carry out the groundwork themselves at no cost to the Hall.
Their team levelled the site and installed a new paved and gravelled surface, complete with weed-resistant barrier fabric, creating a tidy and easily maintained area perfectly suited for the new shed. This generous gift of Goods and Services in Kind (GSIK) is valued at around £8,000 and represents a huge saving for the Village Hall charity.
