The rear space behind the Village Hall has been somewhat neglected for several years and had become untidy and difficult to maintain. The current Village Hall committee decided it was time to make better use of this area by creating a properly surfaced space that could house a Community Shed for the benefit of local groups.
The shed will provide secure storage for equipment used by village organisations, helping to support community events such as the Flower Show and other activities that rely on shared resources.
To make the project possible, the Flower Show committee partnered with the Village Hall to apply for funding from the Kippen Community Trust. We were delighted to receive a grant of just under £1,000 towards the purchase of the shed, on the condition that the Village Hall could provide a suitable hard standing and space to house it.
McLaughlin & Harvey are currently working at the new Corbiewood Primary School in Stirling, and as part of their responsible business activities, they were able to offer support from their supply chain partners.
The team from SG Civil Engineering kindly donated their time and materials to level the site and install a new paved and gravelled surface, complete with weed-resistant barrier fabric, creating a tidy, easily maintained area perfectly suited for the new shed. The shed has now been installed by a team from McLaughlin & Harvey who managed the assembly. This generous gift of Goods and Services in Kind (GSIK) represents a huge saving for the Village Hall charity.
