We are delighted to announce that the Garfield Weston Foundation has awarded the Hall a £5,000 grant to fund a major upgrade of our ageing sound system, improving audio quality and accessibility for all users.
Thanks to the generous support of the Garfield Weston Foundation, the Hall will soon benefit from a comprehensive sound system upgrade.
The grant will fund:
- New speakers
- New modern cabling
- A fixed-position shelf on stage for the main amplifier and hearing loop amplifier, allowing the systems to be merged
- Radio microphones
These improvements will mean that most standard uses of the Hall (particularly voice amplification during events and music for parties) can be accommodated without the need for extensive set-up each time. In most cases, users will simply need to plug in microphones or other equipment, making events easier to manage and more accessible!
James Thomson, KVH Committee Technical Adviser, said:
“This will make a major difference to hall users at events in the hall, which does not have great acoustics — old buildings rarely do. We hope this upgrade will help us provide better sound facilities that can be improved upon in the future.”
