The Chair of Kippen Village Hall, Frances Carlaw, has successfully secured two major lottery grants to support the continued refurbishment and development of the Hall; a monumental achievement that will benefit everyone who uses and loves this important community space.
£19,691 from the National Lottery Community Fund
This is the second major award we have received from The National Lottery Community Fund for our refurbishment project, and it fits perfectly with our development plans.
Alongside this, we are extremely grateful to Stirling Council for their £5,000 match funding through the No One Left Behind fund. Their support helped in this substantial lottery grant… a brilliant example of partnership working for the benefit of our community.
Together with continued fundraising, these grants will enable us to:
- Employ a part-time caretaker
- Free up valuable volunteer committee time
- Strengthen the day-to-day running of the Hall

£8,164 Flooring Grant – The Final Piece!
We are also thrilled to have secured £8,164 as an extension grant from the Community Led Local Development Fund for Rural Forth Valley and Lomond (CLLD).
This funding will pay for:
- New foyer carpet
- New vinyl covering for both staircases
- New flooring for the upper landing
- A new stage floor
This flooring marks the final stage of our refurbishment project! The flooring company will be on site shortly to carry out the work, and we’re pleased to confirm the Hall will remain OPEN during fitting.
A Remarkable Total Raised
Thanks to successful grant applications and ongoing fundraising, we have now raised:
£189,002 — plus £5,000 in GSIK!
This is an extraordinary achievement and reflects the hard work, persistence, and vision behind the scenes.
A Word from the Chair
Frances shares this advice for anyone considering applying for grant funding:
“There is a lot of work that must go on behind the scenes before you make an application, and you do need to be sure that your project fits the criteria. Fundraising can be daunting for those with no experience, but remember these large organisations want to support you!
Do your homework well in advance. Work up your project so you know exactly what it’s about and how much you need – ask for only what you need. Have your background documents ready: business plans, budgets, match funding, quotations, consultations, details of beneficiaries and volunteers, and clear information about how your organisation is structured.
Most grants officers are helpful – talk to them and follow their advice. Fill in applications carefully, answer concisely, include everything required… and when the results come in, don’t forget to bank, thank, and celebrate!
